It is with great regret that Franklinshows announces that the
2011 ROSE CITY OPENER, May 26-29 is CANCELED

                                             With the recent concern of the EHV-1 cases affecting our horse community
                                             we recognize our exhibitor's concern and further recognize that many barns/stables
                                             have decided to keep their horses home and not allow ingress or egress of their facilities.
                                             With this in mind we have decided it is in the best interest of all concerned that the 
                                             show not be held this year. 

             While the health and safety of the horses is paramount we look forward to seeing you at: 

LAKE OSWEGO HUNT CLASSIC  JULY 1 -2
and the
MID~SEASON HUNTER/JUMPER SHOW  AUGUST 5-7

UPDATE ON EHV-1 AND ROSE CITY OPENER

In light of the recent outbreak of Equine Herpes (EHV-1) at a cutting horse show in Ogden, Utah,
the management of Franklinshows and DevonWood Equestrian Centre have been closely monitoring
the situation and consulting with veterinarians and state equine health representatives.
While the safety and well being of all of our horses is most important we have worked hard to make
informed decisions and provide you with some useful information. 

Although there are many differing thoughts on this, after attending the OSU Veterinarian College informational
meeting in Corvallis (5/19/2011) with Dr. Don Hansen, consulting with our veterinarian, Dr. Lisa Campbell
and several other veterinarians in the local area, we believe that with precautionary measures in place
and common sense we will go ahead with the horse show as scheduled. 

Of course, everyone has to make the decision within his/her comfort zone.
Please read, research and stay informed with reliable information.

Individual State EHV-1 reports have been compiled and a current national EHV-1 situation report is attached.
  This information along with the EHV-1 guidance document “Recommendations for Horses Exposed to EHV-1 or EHM”
